style="text-align:justify">A complete Medieval copper-alloy coin weight dating to circa 1400-1500. It is a cast uniface square weight with bevelled edges. On the front face is the image of a crowned rose. To the left is a stamped R underneath a crown. Both are enveloped by a circumferential beaded border. The mass equates to 52.5 grains, possibly at the value of a 1/2 noble, dating to between 1412-1464. However, the combination of the rose and crowned R may suggest the reign of Richard III ( 1483-1485), as NLM-74E79. Consequently, a broad 14th century date is suggested.
