Bemærk at dette er et engelsk fund, og at dateringen kan variere fra den danske. Fundet er medtaget i SAMLINGEN som reference og for sammenligning.
A copper-alloy Early Medieval (Anglo-Scandinavian) stirrup mount , dating to 1000-1100. It is pentagonal in plan and has the remainders of the right angled flange protruding backwards from its base. It has a rounded apex, which is pierced with a circular perforation; at its base there are two sideways protruding knops. Two similar knops are at the outer corners of the long edges of the mount. The front face of themount is decorated with a series of incised geometrical motifs, which might represent two opposite back-to-back animals. The lower part of the mount has two circular holes, which are blocked or partially blocked by fragments of the iron rivets. The surfaces are in fair condition although the greenish patina has worn away leaving the brownish purple metal core.
