An complete copper alloy late Early Medieval stirrup terminal, dating to the period c.1000-1100 . The stirrup mount is zoomorphic, with thebeastcurved around on itself to forma circularaperture. The curve of the loopextends upwards intoan arm, from which extends three groupsof twoprojections along its length. These projectionscurve slightly inwards and would have formed themeans of attachment. The other end of the loop is in the form of a beast head, with open jaws. The jaws bifurcate and the upper extends andattaches to the upper terminal of the attachment arm, while the lower curves downwards to form the aperture. A tongue extends at 45 degrees to the jaws, and terminates in a loop back on itself, which is joined to the attachmentarm.
